Thank you so much everybody who wished me a happy birthday. So appreciated since I can’t necessarily spend it with you all. However, I took advantage of the weekend. Dave and I conquered Mulhacen, the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsula. It was challenging because it was very long, the last 600-800 meters is a climb and the last ridge was extremely windy. We ascended in 3.5 hours and about 2.5 down. I’m tired and ready to go to bed after getting up at 6am.
As we first came out of the trees. Sorry, didn’t take a pic at the beginning of the trailhead.
Dave showing that he’s tough enough to wear shorts as we steer towards a trail that doesn’t turn out to be the trail we’re supposed to be on.
This was the view from that trail, but it actually was more interesting because we saw a ram who stared us down hard and it was a bit quicker than taking the road.
Dave said that it was funny that I appeared very color coordinated today. Funny that everything was bought at different times, locations and countries.
Here you are just looking for the rock towers to follow your way up.
Looking towards Veleta which we conquered last summer, 90% by bike. Yes, very steep drop offs.
It was so windy leading up to this point that I kept everything on and Dave reminded me to show my face.
Dave still made it in his shorts.
Yes, this is not a good place for people with vertigo or fear of heights.
I had to be at the very tippy top.
