Another new adventure in DC, WI mixed with a repeat was hiking the Eagle trail to view the Niagara escarpment and of course the brand new remodel of Eagle Tower making it sturdier and more accessible. We took in 2 beaches, the Lavender farm, an old church and a great lunch in Washington Island. Even the boys employed their ability to relax and play.

The family at the top of Eagle tower.

The brand new tower!

Yes, there’s an eagle there.

A view from the top.

Here’s one spot where the trail meets the water.

A look back from whence we came.

Yes, there are some places to walk through or step inside the escarpment.

Oh, HI, there you are.

Here’s a nice opening view from the foilage of the escarpment.

It is humongous!!

Maybe camping is in our future here.

After running around in the dunes they’re both off to the water.

It’s one way to relax at Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm…

Or you can pretend to count all the lavender stems of each plant…

Maybe hide & seek among the rows…

Or a leisurely stroll…

Taking in the smell…

Admiring the view…

Spying your children…

Looking for bees…

Searching for another variety…

Getting caught taking photos…

This is the Stavkirke which was built based on drawings of one from 1150 A.D. in Norway where there is also a prayer path to the church. If you didn’t already know there is a huge Scandinavian presence in this area of the U.S.

One of the prayers on the path – Jeremiah 40:4…

Today I am taking the chains off your wrists and setting you free.

Where we had lunch.

To finish off the day we hit up Schoolhouse Beach. Notice the difference between the Sand Dunes beach and this one?

This beach is on the northern end of the island and the other is on the south end.

Look at the clarity of the water and those shades of blue!
