Before we headed to Seville today we thought we’d take advantage of the 1st few days of semana santa to do yard work and a circular tour of the Geoparque de Granada with Geopark Granada. Totally recommend!
Our 1st stop. The boys sitting on a ledge.
Our 4×4 in the background looking back from we came.
Our 2nd stop after running into a minor traffic jam. We all climbed up to this spot from the road below.
Our 3rd stop while Toren is playing it cool.
The landscape is absolutely amazing.
Man made or vulture made?
Asher preparing to fly like the other birds. If you look closely in the sky there is a vulture.
One stop where the boys have more freedom to explore away from cliffs.
We’ll be heading towards that road over yonder. You definitely needed a driver who knew how to use his off-road capability to access this point.
What did they find? Are you sure you want to know?
One of the recesses created by run off.
Looking straight up from inside. What an amazing texture.
Fighting over nature.
It was interesting to see so much green in spots.
I loved the contrast of various colors and textures.
Taking it all in one last time.
Gorafe from a different angle as we head down a steep road that Dave and I accidentally went up the last time we were here.
Tuesday was not a fortunate day for the brotherhoods of Seville that were scheduled as many had to cancel due to the off and on rain, not to mention the lengthy routes they take from their church to the cathedral and back. I missed seeing one particular brotherhood for that reason but there was plenty on Wednesday. I’ve only ever seen bits and pieces in various cities, but I captured some of a couple processions.
La Sed stopped right in front of our restaurant.
The palio of El Carmen.
The guys taking a break. On average there are about 40 guys under there.
The paso/palio. There were a few different words being used to refer to this depending on the media, the locals, etc.
This was the only shot I had from La Madrugada just after 5am. I thought I took video of El Silencio, but I was tired and didn’t hit the right button I guess. This is the most popular day of Semana Santa here as several churches start at midnight or a little later and go all night. Here there was gridlock amongst 3 churches who were using the same intersection and arrived pretty close in time to each other.
As we head towards the garage to pick up the car and we run into a procession.
A brief stop before making it to the church.
