Next stop, Porto, Portugal because my man likes his Port. Here, we took our time walking through the city, buying some port, watching some fun dancers, buying candy, and having lunch at #PimmsCafe. Very pretty city and reminiscent of Seattle with the hilly streets.
Sé Catedral or Sé do Porto Catedral from the 12th century that has an interior like a fortress but we weren’t able to go inside.
Asher exploring the cathedral for himself although the sun is washing out the details of this facade.
The view from the cathedral. I love the graduated levels of the city.
As we descend the steps, as Asher chose this path, we look towards the central part of the city.
This is the mosaic in the entrance of the Estação São Bento. This is the train station.
This is the exterior of São Bento, just as inpressive or no?
The Misericórdia Igrexa in the Rua das Flores , it was built in the 1500s, but has a facade from the 18th century.
The Praça do Infante D Henrique and Palácio da Bolsa. Grass can never be turned down by this family and there’s parking below too.
Oh, such a cute old trolley that it reminded me of Torino, Italy.
The Igrexa do São Francisco. This was built in the 14th century.
Capturing a classic view of the Ribeira neighborhood from Ponte Luís I.
This is Ponte Luís I with car traffic and sidewalks on the bottom and the metro and pedestrian paths above. We walked both ways to get the full experience, that, and we had to get back to our car.
A pic of the Ribeira neighborhood directly from the opposing shore of the Douro river.
Igrexa Paroquial de São Nicolau with nice tile work that makes it really stand out on the street.
Leaving Porto to head south. Ta da for now!
