Although we are currently in Porto, Portugal, I’m still trying to catch up on our daily adventures through Galicia. On this day we had prepared to go to Islas de Cíes. Although tired because we got up supremely early to catch our boat this may have been one of my top favorites in Galicia. I want to go back and camp there. It was sold out when I looked initially for this trip. Don’t let the first few photos fool you, everything melted away and revealed why this island is soooo popular.
This is the cafe where we waited for 2 hours as the staff suggested we delay and take a later boat. It was pouring rain.
Finally on our 11:30 boat ready to take on the island rain or not.
At the island about an hour later, this is Playa Rodas, the biggest section of beach on the island. No matter, we were looking at doing some of the hiking trails.
Asher super excited to find all the puddles along the way and boy, did he.
Toren’s 1st rest at just below the Alto do Príncipe.
From the tippy top as the clouds begin to move aside.
Asher making his final ascent.
Here’s the top and, of course, as predicted…
Asher wants to splash, splash, splash, thus the sandals even in the rain.
Totally clear view!
El lago, but there is no access to this as it’s protected.
Catching Toren with a background of another beach on the island while hiking the Ruta del Faro de Cíes.
Toren and I went on with Dave’s blessing as Asher had different intentions and was super slow. Still hiking up the Monte Faro.
Here’s another friendly skink that I caught that was more average size.
Here’s the view at another island from the lighthouse at the top of Monte Faro.
Here’s the opposing view looking back across Cíes. Oh, and there’s a seagull.
Playa Rodas looking towards the south from where we entered.
To top it all off when we arrived in Vigo we headed to the Rua da Pescaderia and I had a dozen oysters. Yummmmmmm!! I have really liked the food in Galicia.
