Well, next stop was Salamanca. We are camping in the Picos currently and it’s a little challenging keeping anything charged. Beautiful little city and fun to explore. A little lengthy but there were some funny moments to capture too
Salamanca’s Plaza Mayor. I spotted a Starbucks here when I still needed a coffee, but it was one of the few places closed.
Walking our way towards the Casa de las Conchas.
The old part of the city is so picturesque. There is always something you can spot from a distance.
Casa de las Conchas. It is said to have over 300 shells all around the palace which is now a library. The legend is that there is a gold coin hidden under one of the shells as it was common to do so in the foundations of new homes.
The symbol of the shells is believed to be related to the owner’s membership in the Santiago order and also from the crest of his wife’s household.
Universidad de Pontificia de Salamanca.
Catedral de Salamanca. The sun was high and blinding. This view is of the old and new part of the church.
Enjoying the view of the old doors on the catedral.
Here at the Universidad de Salamanca you need to find the frog of salamanca. If you find it it brings you success. We found it, but it’s super tiny and we had a small hint ahead of time. There’s more history behind this facade as well.
At this door on the catedral you should be able to find an astronaut and a dragon eating ice cream. Can you spot them?
Here is a much closer look of the facade. Can you find them now? The joke lies in when some work was being done on the facade in the early 90’s a guy added them.
Looking away from the catedral.
This was closed while we were here, but the rumor is the devil taught dark magic here to a small group of individuals.
The back side of the catedral.
Inside the catedral.
Ummm, it’s safe to walk through here, right?
The Ireonimous tower of the old catedral that hiked up and around.

A view of the upper part of the catedral from the tower.
That looks like a massive bird nest on top.
Convento de las Dueñas.
