We left Maribor, Slovenia this morning and tried to access the Pohorje tree top view. Although Google maps took us by way of an old forest road, it had also begun showing on our way up the mountain. By the time we arrived, the boys were both asleep, we would have had to dig out their boots and snow pants plus €25 for the family. That’s okay. So, I tried to drive as quickly and safely as I could towards Celje castle, but alas we didn’t have 30 minutes before closing so no entry. Did get one viewpoint pic for my trouble on the way to Bled, Slovenia. I have included some pics of our last night as well.

It was so beautiful to look at and it turns out that piece that’s making the reflections are made completely out of wood.

This building was always so striking in the evening and was right by our place located closely to the University.

Stolnica Maribor, a cathedral dedicated to St. John the Baptist and was at the end of our street in this big sqaure.

This was the inside at night.

I loved how this bridge was lit up every night.

I loved how this bridge was lit up every night.

This was a large square set up with watching a live performance of Andrea Bocelli although transmitted to a screen here in Maribor on Xmas day. You had all manner of drinks available to enjoy what was on or in your mind.

The tree just looked spectacular.

The Maribor castle in the background.

I loved the color and architecture of this postal building.

What an immense church in the old town. The church itself was closed.

Those awesome clock towers to boot.

Awww, how could I resist and Toren even asked how I got him inside a snow globe. Magic, my dear child.

The Old Vine House. This vine, currently dormant, is over 400 years old and is in the Guiness Book of World records at some point for being the oldest vine in the world.

That beautiful lit up bridge, but during the day with all these lovely swans swimming around.

One of our last views before heading into the trees of the Pohorje mountains.

I loved how this church appeared all alone in the middle of nowhere.

Stopping to take a snow pic as we continue to drive down this forest road on our way to the tree top viewpoint.

Celje castle. If I had a better camera there is a better shot from further below that shows it’s sitting atop a cliff side. Amazing!

Part of the entry way of our cute apartment in Maribor.

I loved how festive everything was in our apartment in Maribor for Xmas.
