Before we head back to Granada we had one final adventure of exploration. 1st, finding the Acequia del Toril and the nearby Dolmenes (Google was kind of helpful & no helpful signage) and having lunch in Gorafe.
We found it!
Our first test of danger was climbing atop the channel. I was initially just checking out and then Asher had to follow too.
Here’s a spot that goes through the channel and opens up to a platform over the resort area near the beginning. Guess what? I didn’t melt.
Wait…there’s another one?
And it takes us out the other side.
So here is where a channel of water used to run and the taller wall to the right is where the water currently runs.
One view beyond the channel.
You can walk alongnthe channel further on to see where the trail goes, but after a while you jump on a normal trail and we decided to turn around and see what else was there to explore.
Here’s one spot where the water diverts and has created very shallow pools here and down below.
We found a spot to enter between the 2 channels as we noticed there was an opening there.
Turns out there was a sliver of space on the other side…
And another old channel.
It takes you to where the water diverts in another location…
Oh and did I mention that the water is warm?
This was covering a large part of the current channel and it reminded me of Dr. Seuss and would be nice and fluffy.
One dolmen that might have been used more in recent times as well.
The next one from the inside.
A view from the outside, it really blends in and it was nest to see the channels along the outside as well as stones placed to work over the channel.
A view on our way to lunch.
Then we thought let’s go for a hike to the nearest mirador. Down below was their cemetery.
Mirador del Virgen.
The view of Gorafe from the Mirador above. Straight ahead there is a winding road that can take you to the top of the ridge to another mirador. No rails, one lane and then 80% of the way up it turns into gravel and road. No thanks, not in our car so we turned around and went to the main highway.
All my guys enjoying the area.
Me too!
