Entonces, we had 2 interesting excursions yesterday: First up was Postojna Cave (Slovenia’s 2nd longest cave system at 24 km). Check it out, it was fun and a different experience in its own way. Asher was mesmerized by the cave. They also have baby dragons here or at least that’s what they used to think. No pics becuase not enough light but they are the largest predator in the caves and can wait up to 5 years for their next meal. They are called olms and can live for up to 100 years.

Yes, there is a train that takes you down into the cave. Wild, right? Or at least from my cave experiences.

One pic of the grand hall.

This is from the highest point in the grand hall looking back down.

I loved this because it wasn’t typical and looked like it was dripping down the wall of the cave.

2 things can affect the color down there, iron and calcium. Whooowheee, look how white that is, is it calcium or iron?

A reflection pool.

Yes, this cave is wheelchair accessible. Yay!

They said this particular stalagmite is extremely rare to be entirely devoid of any color and it’s the only one in that entire cave. So, I did as I was told and took a picture.

This is their Xmas hall where they hold concerts and such things. They even have a Xmas tree waiting. Special

This is the River Pivka that formed the caves. We couldn’t get close as it was considered dangerous.

Where we exited our tour of the cave system.

The boys exploring their own train.

How cute and creative to hang little decorated Xmas tress like stalactites.

I found another one!
