On this day we explored the southern portion of the Ribeira Sacra. We checked out viewpoints, a “small” hike and even an old monastery.

This is the view from the Balcón de Madrid looking over the canyon and river Sil.

The beginning of our short hike that starts off with wooden walkways, stairs, vistas, etc.

A look back down the length of this section along the Cañón del Río Mao.

Stair workout anyone?

One portion of the river.

Walking into Barxacova.

We went only a little ways further to the edge of this little town as it’s a circular route.

There are 2 observation decks that jut out off the cliff. Children are not allowed, 3 people at a time and no jumping.

This is a much better picture earlier in the day. The position of the sun made it very difficult to capture the beauty of this view.

Oh, and what little secret is hiding amongst the trees here?

Ah, this is the Monasterio de Santa Cristina de Ribas de Sil.

The outdoor courtyard.

Standing at the door to leave as we arrived too late and the interior was closed. We still explored the outside though.

Very old, but don’t know what it represents.
