We are on our way back home, but here is some of our adventure of our last day in Montpellier and then a few days in Marseille, France. I can tell you that I will never get used to the # of people who smoke in Europe; it blows me away. We have also had a couple crazy Airbnb experiences along the way as well, but even though we had to book a hotel in Bordeaux, it was nice to have AC.

My last game in Montpellier for the Women’s World Cup. Knockout match between Italy v. China.

Place de Comedie at night facing the opera and fountain. We wanted to see how this area looked at night when we returned.

The old Roman water tower at night.

This is the Cathedral de la Major. So very different and impressive as well as overlooks the sea.

Palais Longchamp is now an old musuem and has a beautiful, large park behind it.

The Notre Dame de la Garde overlooking all of the city and even the islands.

Chateau D’if. I had to come here as I love the book, The Count of Monte Cristo. It was more impressive in my imagination though. This place still has a lot of interesting history though.

The view from Chateau D’if across to Frioul.

The center courtyard inside Chateau D’if. Some of the more valued political prisoners had pretty decent accommodations from what we could see. The most awful places were in the dungeons below which weren’t open to the public, I assume for sanitary reasons.

Stones reflecting names and even messages from prisoners.

There are also some from military stationed there. In another area there are some from tourists written in pen.
