A few highlights from our 1st day in Copenhagen since my posts are all over the place and we’re already in Sweden. Enjoy!
The Little Mermaid that’s been sitting there since 1913. What the heck Prince Eric? A guy fell in love with the character after seeing the ballet and had it commissioned.
Højbro Plads as we wait to jump on a boat tour that was too hot, too crowded and not a hop on, hop off experience.
Holmens Kirke from 1619. It was originally built as an anchor forge and then later became a church. The current Danish queen was married here.
Toren enjoying a little freedom.
Christiansborg Palace head on and Slotsplad. It was completed in 1928 but has been the center of Denmark’s power 800 year long history. You can apparently go up into the tower.
Playing and sunbathing in the slotsplad.
Rigsdagsgården of the palace.
The rear of the palace with King Christian IX.
Det Kongelige Biblioteks Have – Garden of the Royal Library. Lovely spot to read, picnic, etc.
Dansk Jødisk Museum which was temporarily closed.
Det Kongeliege Bibliotek aka The Black Diamond. Sleek!
A little infinity river right into Københavns Havn.
Rundetårn – The Round Tower, from the 17th century.
The entrance to what was a former observatory and planetarium.
It has a spiral ramp going most of the way up and Asher managed to trip here. The center is hollow and you can see it.

A view of the old town.
Helligåndskirken – Church of the Holy Spirit which was near the LEGO store the boys wanted to visit.
Købenshavn Rådhus – Copenhagen City Hall and the plaza where there were many gay pride activities taking place.
