So, our last day in Stockholm was visiting 1 of the islands in the archipelago as there roughly 30,000 and then as we were at a loss for what to do in the afternoon we wandered over to Drottningholm Slott, a palace and wandered through the gardens.
Vaxholm Castle which is on its own island but it was only open on the weekends at this point in the year. Oh well.
We did a small hike around the eastern end of the island which was short but neat to see part of the island.
Which led us to this fun, amazing selection of a cafe, Vaxholms Hembygdsgårds Café. Although the birds outside were super annoying.
The partial walk along the water was nice, we even saw a couple people pop on some wetsuits, 1 just speedos and jump in here.
Some spots seemed like you were waking through someone’s yard but it was pretty established.
Part of the old town of the island. At this point we were considering another hike along the opposite side, but changed focus.
Beautiful staircase in the entry of the palace, but the small amount that was open was somewhat unremarkable to all of us.
Entering the gardens of the palace which I understand has been and still is open to the public or at least most of it.
Perfectly planted trees all in a row. Great for practicing your weaving skills.
The Chinese Pavillion which is located amongst the gardens. A gift from King Adolf Fredrik to his Queen.
This is away from the main house where they could truly have “private” dinners. The dining table was actually raised up from below all set up with settings and food. There were no staff in the dining room.
These ponds were somewhat man-made as I understand and there was marsh first before it was dug out more.
Gothic Tornet which is on the property.
We enjoyed the walking paths and bridges.
Toren practicing for senior photos.
The palace before finding out I scored a parking ticket. Ugh!
Vaxholm Castle which is on its own island but it was only open on the weekends at this point in the year. Oh well.
