Expat Future is a decision hub for people working out whether to move abroad, and where to go. We are built for people running the numbers, not people daydreaming about a beach.

Our first guides are written for readers leaving the US, so you will see US figures (Social Security, Medicare, US tax filing) where they change the answer. The visa, citizenship, and cost figures themselves apply whatever passport you hold today.

What we publish

Every page is shaped like a knowledge base, not a travel magazine. That means each one carries the same things:

• A direct answer at the top, with the number that matters.
• A comparison table with explicit 2026 figures.
• A step-by-step process, not vibes.
• The real tradeoffs, including the ones that make a place a bad fit.
• A list of sources, and a date the page was last verified.

We cover citizenship by descent, residence and retirement visas, the practical mechanics of leaving (banking, insurance, cost of living), and honest country reality-checks.

Who writes this

Expat Future is researched and written by our editorial team. Legally sensitive pages, the citizenship-by-descent guides especially, are built from primary government and statutory sources. Where a lawyer has not reviewed a page, it says so plainly at the top and tells you to confirm your own case with a qualified lawyer before you act. Where a page has been through professional legal review, it carries a reviewer credit and the date. Either way, the last-updated stamp tells you when the numbers were last checked.
