Privacy Policy
What Expat Future collects when you visit, why, who processes it, and your rights. Analytics only with your consent, no accounts, and no sale of personal data.
Last updated: October 19, 2026
This policy explains what information is collected when you use expatfuture.com, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection deliberately small.
Who we are
Expat Future is published by Rapid Compete, 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact: [email protected].
The short version
- You can read the whole site without an account and without giving us any personal information.
- No analytics run on the site yet. When we add them, they will run only if you agree in a cookie banner.
- Your Country Matcher answers stay in your own browser. They are not sent to us.
- We do not collect email addresses at the moment. The sign-up forms are closed, and this policy will be updated before they open.
- We do not sell your personal information.
What is collected
Technical data needed to serve the site. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site, Cloudflare processes your IP address, your browser and device type, and the pages requested. We see this only as aggregate counts that do not identify you.
Analytics, only with your consent (not yet active). We plan to use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz, to understand which pages are useful. It will load only if you accept analytics in a cookie banner, and it will record page views, approximate location (country and region, worked out from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store), device and browser type, and the site that referred you. If you decline, it will not load. Until the banner is live, no analytics run on the site. The cookie policy lists what is used today and will list the analytics cookies before they are turned on.
Country Matcher answers. The matcher runs in your browser. Your answers (passports, age band, income and savings bands, and preferences) are kept in your browser’s storage on your own device so you can return to them. They are not transmitted to us or stored on our servers.
Search data. Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools tell us which search terms lead people to the site, in aggregate. They do not tell us who searched.
We do not collect payment information (the site sells nothing directly), and we do not ask for sensitive personal data.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis (UK and EU GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Delivering and securing the site | Technical data | Our legitimate interest in running a secure website |
| Understanding which content helps readers (once analytics are on) | Analytics data | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
Affiliate links
Some links on the site are, or will be, affiliate links. If you click one, the partner (for example a money-transfer or insurance provider) may set a cookie on its own site to credit the referral to us. Those companies are independent and their own privacy policies apply once you are on their sites. We receive only aggregate referral and commission figures from them, not your personal details. See our affiliate disclosure.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site, protects it, and loads third-party scripts through Zaraz.
- Google will provide Google Analytics 4 once analytics are on, and only for visitors who consent.
Both may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Those transfers rely on the safeguards each provider offers, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long data is kept
- Analytics data in Google Analytics will be kept for no more than 14 months and then deleted automatically.
- Cloudflare keeps technical logs for its own short retention periods.
- Country Matcher answers stay on your device until you clear your browser storage.
Your rights and choices
- Change your cookie choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, once analytics are on.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. These rights apply under the EU and UK GDPR and, for US residents, state laws such as California’s CCPA and CPRA. Using them is free, and we will not treat you differently for doing so.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data-protection authority.
To make a request, email [email protected]. Because we hold so little, we will usually need the request to tell us what it relates to.
Children
The site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the site changes, for example before email sign-ups open or when a new analytics or advertising tool is added. The date at the top shows the latest version.
